A fun little cloud featuring a gorgeous Aurora opal! ☁️✨
Aurora opal is a type of lab-created opal, made to mimic the natural play-of-color found in precious opal. Unlike natural opal, Aurora opal is created in a controlled environment, allowing for those incredible flashes and combinations of color to develop throughout the stone. The result is a truly eye-catching opal with a beautiful, almost otherworldly glow.
This particular Aurora opal is especially fun, revealing all sorts of gorgeous colors depending on which direction you look at it. Green, blue, yellow, and other flashes seem to appear and disappear as the stone moves through the light.
I set it in an all-fine-silver handmade cloud setting. The entire piece has been oxidized and brushed to give the silver a lovely aged patina and bring out the texture.
The opal in its setting measures approximately 29mm x 17mm.
It is attached to a sterling silver paperclip chain and measures approximately 18.25 inches long.
