This Siberian azurite/malachite has such an unexpected palette—bright greens mixed with warm camel and earthy brown tones. Its abstract patterns remind me of a Miró painting, a little work of art created by nature.
Azurite and malachite are naturally associated copper minerals, best known for their blue and green colors. This particular Siberian stone offers a different look, with its lively greens and warm earthy patterns giving it a character all its own.
I set it in fine silver and added a green kyanite accent above it to echo the greens below. A sterling silver paper clip chain completes the piece, with a soft satin finish throughout.
The bottom stone in its setting measures approximately 40 × 23 mm, and the kyanite in its setting measures 11 × 7 mm, both excluding the bale. The pendant’s total drop is 57 mm, and the necklace measures 18.5 inches long.
