This spectacular boulder opal is one of those stones that is nearly impossible to capture in a photograph. It has gorgeous swirls of blue, green, and purple that shift and glow as the stone moves in the light.
I set the opal in fine and sterling silver and accented the entire ring—including the band—with a mix of 14k and 18k gold DOTS. The little touches of gold add just the right amount of warmth and continue the handmade granulation detail throughout the piece.
The entire ring has been lightly oxidized and brushed, giving the silver a soft, rustic patina that makes the opal and gold details really stand out.
