Beautiful silky ruby in a melon-cut cabochon, set in fine silver and accented with two 14k gold-filled dots on either side. The ruby has a soft, velvety glow that comes from the fine, needle-like rutile crystals naturally suspended within the stone.
These tiny intersecting crystals—known as “silk”—scatter the light inside the ruby, giving it that dreamy, almost glowing appearance. The presence of silk is also a lovely indication that the ruby is natural and has not been heat-treated.
The stone in its setting measures approximately 12mm x 8mm, not including the gold-filled dots. I attached it to a handmade fine silver shank, and the entire piece has been lightly oxidized and brushed to give it a soft, rustic patina.
Currently a size 4, but it comfortably fits a 4.25. This ring can be sized up within reason—please message me if you need a different size.
